MICHAEL MOORE
The first four years of my life were spent in a little valley east of Masterton surrounded by high hills. I still have a conscious memory of those first years and they continue to inform my perception.
My work spans a diverse range of New Zealand landscapes and native trees.
In my work I strive to merge traditional and modern artistic practices and endeavour to offer a fresh perspective on the enduring relevance of natural elements in contemporary art.
I have painted and exhibited since the late 1980’s and for me painting feels as natural as breathing air as I journey through the course of my life as an artist who has a strong spiritual connection to Aotearoa - New Zealand.
