RICHARD BRIMER
“Reportage” is a wonderful, eclectic mix of images captured over the years by local Hawkes Bay photographer Richard Brimer. His gift for story telling and his passion for people and place is evident in this comprehensive body of work. The show comprises eight large format works, printed as a series of five, on aluminium panels with a natural timber frame. Alongside these hang a diverse selection of smaller prints hung on wooden pegs in the style of the New York street vendor, featured in the show. These small unframed works are only available to be purchased from the gallery.
In Brimer’s words, “Reportage is a body of work inspired by travel, or lack of during these trying times, from an early stage in my career I have made myself shoot at least one image for myself when out on a commission…. forgetting the clients brief and doing something for my soul……this show is a little of this and a series of images of maybe left field travel experiences found in archives during time in Lockdown.”
