LUCIE RYAN

LUCIE RYAN

One could describe American sculptor and potter, Lucie Ryan as a strident feminist with a curious mind and exacting standards. Her work explores ways the female form can embody and express what is both universal and personal, mythical and real. As well as her larger ceramic figurative sculptures, Lucie's collection includes a number of smaller cast bronze pieces and rustic hand built ceramic vessels.

Lucie moved to Hawkes Bay from California with her Kiwi born husband in 2021, having spent the best part of the previous 20 years developing her skills as a potter and sculptor at Cuesta College Ceramic Arts in San Luis Obispo. She is renowned for her ‘Fat Ladies’ Sculptures and has work in collections across the US, including the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) in Pomona.
