VOYAGE
This is our third solo show with Auckland artist Richard Adams and it is his most colourful and dynamic yet.
Big arcing blocks of colour are juxtaposed with the usual rectangular forms that are Adams’ signature abstract expressionist style. His mastery of texture and graduation of colour are still clearly evident, but we are treated to lovely new details, including bars of colour along the bottom and sides of some of the new works.
These paintings are more playful and complicated than previous works, and with less emphasis on a horizon line, they are a move towards more pure abstraction.
