NICHOLAS TOYNE

Nicholas Toyne is a ceramic and multi-disciplinary artist born and raised in the heart of Whanganui, Aotearoa. His artistic journey began in 2018 at Whanganui UCOL, where he studied glassblowing and casting, skills that naturally led him to explore sculpting with clay. His degree culminated in 2020 with an internship at New Zealand Glassworks – Te Whare Tuhua O Te Ao, further refining his expertise in glass and ceramics.
"My practice utilises ritual and vessel-making within the philosophical frameworks of Zen, alchemy, and human mortality to explore impermanence, and beauty within imperfection."
