Occasionally I need to change an older work after leaving it for a while and having a fresh perspective. I get a strong sense sometimes that a painting has a hidden meaning or message that has not yet been resolved.
After completing the series I revisited this piece and decided it would symbolise my own experiences finding my voice as an artist in the completion of this series. The china megaphone is a form of communication, but it is made from porcelain which is fragile. It most likely represents some of the anxiety I have with social media. Her hood has a convenient strap to hang up the megaphone as a sign of restraint. I have learned that there is more power in listening than in talking sometimes, or that a painting can project more power than words.
The title about "peace" refers to achieving peace of mind using environmental factors and tuning into our authentic selves. My instincts and intuition have served me reasonably well through life and I like to think that humans as a whole can navigate the future with AI by using their own powers.
Her abacus beads represent a balance of MI and AI coming together to a point of acceptance and understanding.
