Jae Frew is a renowned contemporary portrait photographer based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
As a child he kept an aviary of birds, their unique behaviors, movements, and beauty captivated him, leaving a lasting imprint on his inquisitive young mind. Another lifelong passion was ignited during this time as Frew honed the art of fine woodworking, learning from his cabinetmaker father.
Through his photography, Frew honours New Zealand’s extinct and endangered native wildlife with a passion for conservation. He blends his deep understanding of portraiture with his enduring love for birds and his craftsmanship in woodwork to create a moving tribute.
