BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH
SEAN BELDON 4 April - 1 May
"I wander high and low between heaven and earth, feet not finding ground, the sky out of reach. This midway is where I wander.
Ek dwaal hoog en laag tussen Hemel en aarde. My voete vind nie grond nie, die lug te ver daar bo. Ek dwaal die middeweg." – Sean Beldon, 2025

Muse Art Gallery proudly presents Between Heaven and earth, a highly anticipated exhibition by South African-born, Auckland artist Sean Beldon. A rising force in contemporary New Zealand art, Beldon is an artist whose work continues to gain acclaim, making this exhibition a rare opportunity to experience and acquire his work locally.
Inspired by Sean’s journey through Hawke’s Bay and the East Coast, this collection is a metaphorical exploration of place, memory, and transformation - where landscapes stretch, distort, and shift into something almost mythical. For those who know and love these regions, these works hold a deep resonance, capturing the nostalgia and essence of their most distinctive landscapes. Now, for the first time, locals can experience them in person.
At the heart of the collection is Cape Kidnappers, a commanding centrepiece capturing the sculpted cliffs, golden grasses, and shifting light of one of Hawke’s Bay’s most iconic landscapes.
More than a depiction of place, Between Heaven and earth is an invitation to see familiar landscapes anew, where land and sky blur, and memory transforms reality.
