PASSING VESSELS 1 NOV - 28 NOV 2020

"Passing Vessels" is a reference to the collaboration process, from the ceramicist who forms vessels which are passed to the florist who fills them with flowers, who then passes them to the artist who represents them in paint.

John Lancashire has rendered Pip Woods' small and humble vessels in bold and beautiful brush strokes, striking colours and breathtaking scale. The loose and disarming floral arrangements depicted in the paintings feature wildflowers and wonky stem specimens specially sourced by Kerin Greville for this project.

It is surely a metaphor for our times that what might once have been overlooked, discarded or rejected are now centre stage and presented as heroes.

This collaboration is a celebration of the common-everyday-garden-variety...  in all its forms. It speaks of humanity, inclusiveness and kindness.
