I wanted to create a quiet surreal domestic moment from everyday life. A mother hangs washing on the line, yet an ordinary task feels like a whimsical journey of escapism. Her body is wrapped in the linens while she listens through radio-like headgear made of glass globes. Inside each globe are clouds that are in brain-formation - is she tuning into the digital "cloud" or to her own maternal intuition?
The omission of a line and pegs added to the sense of floating towards the cloud or some other powerful source and the empty cream hints at modern responsibilities of sustainability.
The work resists chaos or fear, and celebrates a quieter kind of power that hums beneath the surface of daily life. The purpose of this painting is to remind us that if we are still enough, we can access the quiet intuition that already lives within us.
