LIZZIE BEERE

LIZZIE BEERE

"Lizzie describes her style as intertwining the abstract and the figurative.

Best known for her large abstract botanical paintings and hand built ceramics, she works in a loose, non-representational style, expanding and exploding the traditions of floral still life.

Her work is often wild, raw and imperfect, reflective of the battle scars and endurance in the human condition. There’s the reference to nature, while the underlying loose structure and pallet of composition remain rooted in the abstraction. The contrast between the recognisable and the obscure.

“Erupted florals” she says, “and those moments of enduring strength and fragility in the blooms and the beauty in their transition and final decay”.

Lizzie has both formal training in design and fine art.

She has twice been a shortlisted finalist in the Molly Morpeth Canaday NZ Painting Award,  2019 and 2021.

She works from her Open Studio, 5 minutes out of Havelock North.”.
